Our Team
One of the things we hear consistently from our clients is how great our people are. And our clients couldn’t be more right.
Our team members were painstakingly selected to help create Ottawa-Gatineau’s most capable, creative and content-rich video production house.
With complementary skills, the instincts to zero in on the best ideas, and a knack for delivering the highest production values, it’s our people that make the difference.
- Patrick McGowan, President, inMotion Group of Companies
When you meet Pat, you may think he’s a scientific experiment in passion, limitless energy and laser-sharp focus. Equally comfortable in the boardroom, the back shop, the edit bay and the field (in some pretty awesome places), Pat loves what inMotion does and it shows.
Inspired by the magnificent beauty of his Alberta prairie home, Pat established himself in Ottawa as a musician, composer, and audio post engineer with a lionhearted vision of building one of Canada’s premiere multimedia production houses. Thirty years later, with offices in Calgary, Toronto, and Ottawa and two sister companies, Accent Production Services and inSTOX Media Labs, Pat’s leadership has made that vision a reality.

- Sarah Fodey, Vice-President and Senior Producer
As testament to inMotion’s taste for unique and top-level talent, we invited Sarah to join forces with us in 2009, launching one of our most productive years yet. Sarah is in her twelfth year as one of the industry’s best regarded Producers. If you’re looking for someone who will pilot the creative and technical growth of your project with energy and unparalleled competence, let the search end here.

- Rafael Ludwig, Creative Director
When Rafael Ludwig and his Toronto-based VFX and motion design company, Capricorn8, came aboard the inMotion vehicle in 2011, our creative horsepower was felt for miles. Rafael’s list of accomplishments, including his role as VFX Supervisor on two feature films, Dark Rising (2007) and Medium Raw (2010), and his talent for strategic brand planning, film direction, print, broadcast, and interactive design make him a multi-disciplined wizard of our industry. We have proposed a pointy hat and magic wand to complete the picture; he is still considering.

- Paul Kite, President, inStox
For Paul, the world is an immense cinemascape, refracting narrative and emotion through every pixel. To this end, he curates inStox’s vast library of stock footage, providing thousands of unique visual assets to an international community of leading filmmakers and marketers. It’s a big job, but Paul has what it takes: the altruism of a craftsman folded into the acumen of a twenty-five-year veteran of intellectual property licensing and marketing. Translation? He’s got a sixth sense for uncovering the visuals that will make your next production sing. Plus, he’s a really nice guy.

- Paula McGowan, Human Resources Manager / Office Manager
Like the world’s most beloved superheroes, Paula McGowan has twin identities: by day, she is the architect of inMotion’s rapidly expanding Human Resources division, providing all of us with the tools we need to maintain our breakneck speed. Come nightfall, she morphs into a 1940s-era torch singer, enchanting live audiences with her touring jazz ensemble. Her powers eclipse those of the comic books classics; for more than ten years, Paula has achieved super-human feats by maintaining order, morale, and security in our firm. We just hope that the Justice League isn’t recruiting, because it’s impossible to imagine office life without her.

- Dave Barton, Producer/Director, inMotion West
Making great images is like carpentry: anyone can wield a hammer, but it takes a craftsman to build a house. For Dave Barton, who has produced, shot, and directed everything from reality TV, commercials, news magazines, and short films, the craft has been shaped by a decade of experience. Lucky for us, the carpentry metaphor doesn’t end there: like any true master of his trade, Dave’s many skills lend themselves to an endless variety of projects, from news magazines through television commercials, short films, and corporate awareness pieces engineered to tower above their competition.

- Steve Dierkens, Post-Production, Audio Engineer, inMotion West
What does inMotion have in common with Disney, MGM, and Fox Network? Steve Dierkens. This sound engineer and video editor started playing in the big kids’ sandbox while working in Los Angeles, adding his name to the credit reel of such beloved classics as The Lion King, Lilo and Stitch, and Family Guy. But Steve’s heart beats for life above the 49th parallel, where he is now a major creative engine driving inMotion’s Western office towards world domination—or, at the very least, towards better, bolder post-production that will transform your next video production into something akin to Hollywood’s best.

- Han Nguyen, Producer and Director
Prior to joining the inMotion team, Han was a free agent in the film and television industry for eight years as a Production Manager and 1st Assistant Director for various television series and films, taking care of all logistical details. Her multi-languages (English, French, spoken Vietnamese, spoken Spanish) and talent for coordinating projects from start to finish have been a great contribution to inMotion. She is a master at overseeing the many layers of a successful production, from scripting to logistical planning to budget management.

- Megan Findlay, Writer and Producer
After completing a Master’s degree in Creative Writing, knocking around France for a year and then taking a position as a project manager, Megan Findlay was spotted by inMotion and adroitly snatched from her regular day job. Her writing talent, natural affinity for video production, and interpersonal skills that are second to none have helped her become a gifted producer.

- Greg Pilsworth, Production Services Manager (Accent)
Every day of the week, we thank our lucky stars that Greg is in our midst. His experience is long and delectably varied: since orchestrating audio content for the grand opening of the Canadian Children’s Museum and the Canadian Museum of Civilization in 1990, Greg has travelled the country as a popular Technical Director, has founded and directed a charity to help kids who can’t afford home computers, and has cultivated a profound love and respect for our industry’s many understated geniuses. (He won’t say so, but we consider him to be among them.)

- Amanda Barakat, Production Manager
There are Production Managers…and then there’s Amanda. She has been part of the inMotion team since 2009, and in that time has rooted herself as an invaluable member of the team, often specifically requested by our returning clients. She is usually the first person in the door and often the last to leave.
A master of organization, a fluently bilingual client liaison, a networking guru—and that’s just the beginning. She is also the recipient of Algonquin College’s Director of the year Award, which she earned while studying for her degree in Television Broadcasting.

- David Maltais, Operations Manager
David Maltais first took up camp in our building as a freelance Project Manager overseeing inMotion’s inter-continental education project with the Government of Ethiopia. Supervising the technical production and delivery of nearly 2,000 televised lessons might sound like a respectable job description for your average technocrat, but for this guy, it was not enough: he soon became our office’s twenty-four-hour troubleshooting mastermind, speaking a language of “logically deployed server racks” and “streamlined data extraction” while applying an arsenal of multi-media workflow enhancements with a deft flick of his wrist.
Needless to say, we are big fans of his, but this throws us into competition: on the rare occasions when David is not at our studio, he is appeasing his loud and mighty following as the driving force behind a local rock band.

- Devin Singleton, Editor/Camera Operator/Motion Graphics Animator
Devin is our firm’s irreplaceable Motion Graphics Animator and Compositor. Since joining inMotion in 2009, Devin’s manically creative mind and deft post-production touch have helped our projects evolve from ideas on paper to compelling works of art. He has worked on projects for clients as diverse as Environment Canada, JDSU, Ace Your Health, and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
- Robin Léveillé, Editor/Camera Operator/Motion Graphics Animator
What separates those who learn to make video from those who live to make video? Their refrigerator. In Robin’s, you won’t find milk and eggs. Instead, you’ll discover a vault of 16mm film stock, which he purchased en masse to prevent their extinction in a digital age. They nourish him more than food ever could. His eyes mist when he describes his plans for them: documentaries captured with rare mastery on an even rarer medium.
Guys, this is passion. Robin is a connoisseur of our industry, and a fanatic about faultless lighting, shooting, and editing. He makes images sing. And he makes us look at our leftover take-out and wilted lettuce with more than a little inspiration.
- Skyler LaFreniere, Editor/Camera Operator/Motion Graphics Animator
When inMotion noticed this bright young freelancer whose vision made our minds spin with delight, we knew he had to join our team. Fortunately, he felt the same way.
In his five years of experience, Skyler’s long list of clients has included AMD Processors, Breakaway Tours, Alienware Computers, and AIM Toronto, among many others. Since joining inMotion, he’s been expertly piloting some of our most ambitious, challenging projects, bringing an infectious feeling of creativity and energy to our editing suites.
- Justin Wotherspoon, Editor/Camera Operator/Motion Graphics Animator
What rockets this fine young editor to the creative stratosphere? Music, pure and simple. It changed his life as a 12-year-old when his father inducted him to the world of Rush and Zeppelin, and it continues to influence his quest for self-expression. By pursuing photography and digital art through the Interactive Multimedia Developer Program at Algonquin College, he found a way to channel all of that rhythm and energy into a successful career with inMotion—and for that, we thank the rock gods!
- Ryan Loates, Editor/Camera Operator/Motion Graphics Animator
We knew Ryan belonged in our fold after discovering him behind the scenes of a popular lifestyle television series, where his professional training in audio post-production and TV broadcasting had rocketed him to freelance success. From feature films through broadcast commercials and corporate promotional pieces, Ryan's eclectic experience has given him the quiet confidence of an established filmmaker, tempered by the vision and determination of a fearless upstart. This is a rare and powerful combination, and one that we are all the stronger for having in our midst.
- Jonathan Kischel, Assistant Studio Manager
A bright young student follows in the steps of his mentor and becomes an award-winning photographer; several short years later, inMotion is lucky enough to grow its family by another talented individual. After beginning his studies in photojournalism at Loyalist College, Jonathan taught himself how to rise above the rest in the field of video production. We took notice, and we’re stronger for it.
